The influential Scottish group The Beta Band has announced its long-awaited reunion tour. This will mark the group’s first performances together since disbanding in 2004.

The classic lineup of Steve Mason, Richard Greentree, John Maclean, and Robin Jones will perform across the UK and North America in autumn 2025.

The tour begins September 25th at Glasgow’s Barrowland before continuing through Leeds, Bristol, Nottingham, London, and Manchester. The North American leg kicks off October 12th in Vancouver and includes shows in major cities including Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, and concluding in New York on November 1st.

“The Beta Band, as everyone knows, is an institution, like Bedlam, or the RSPCA, and as such has its own indelible stain on the bedsheet of Western culture,” the band said in a characteristic statement about their reunion.

Alongside the tour announcement, Because Music revealed plans for a deluxe vinyl reissue of the band’s seminal compilation “The Three E.P.’s,” originally released in 1998. The double vinyl set will be available July 11th, 2025, featuring the complete works from their first three EPs: “Champion Versions,” “The Patty Patty Sound,” and “Los Amigos del Beta Bandidos.”

Formed in 1996, The Beta Band gained critical acclaim for their experimental approach to blending electronic elements, folk, and psychedelia. Despite releasing only three studio albums before their 2004 split, they developed a devoted following and influenced countless artists. Their final performance was at Edinburgh’s Liquid Room on December 4th, 2004.

Author Irvine Welsh shared his enthusiasm for the band’s return, stating, “The Beta Band were definitely a band for the cool cognoscenti… I took it personally that they didn’t hit the mainstream commercial base.”

Pre-sale tickets will be available March 5th for fans who sign up to the band’s mailing list, with general sale beginning March 7th.
