State of the ‘Art’: Ceri meets the Keylab Essential 49 and Analog Lab V
In our new video series, we invite artists to dig into the features and workings of some of Arturia’s newest products.
For the second instalment, Welsh-blooded, London-born, Ibiza- based DJ, Producer and Music Production Masterclass Hostess Ceri, talks through why the Arturia Analog Lab and Keylab Essential 49, is, well, Essential, for producers of all levels.
No stranger to helping up-and-coming producers hone their craft, Ceri previously taught at Point Blank and Beats Learning Music Schools in London.
Over lockdown she launched her own Music Production Masterclass Course, Find Your Own Sound, named not only because she’s driven by helping producers improve their music whilst finding their own unique style, but also as a nod to her label Find Your Own Records, which has featured remixes from bonafide legend Mr. G, and the OG don of deep dopeness, Fred P. On the Production front, Ceri’s early releases (made mostly on the Arturia’s V Collection), gained wide support from DJs and were played on the likes of BBC Radio 1 and BBC6Music. Her music has also earned her the Mixmag Techno tune of the month and no 1 top House track, while Crack Mag billed her as a ‘rising selector.
The Keylab Essential 49 pairs the immediacy of an advanced controller with the expressivity of a classic instrument, whilst giving users extensive sonic versatility with its included software. Perfect for beginners or more advanced producers, the Keylab comes with introductory software for Ableton Live Lite, the UVI Model D Grand Piano Software and Arturia’s Analog Lab, which includes the award-winning V Collection.
Analog Lab V is a plugin which, along with the V Collection, includes emulations of some of the most iconic synthesizers, features their state-of-the-art softsynth Pigments and much more, as well as a library of 2000 presets and patches covering all kinds of musical styles.
In this 20 minute video, recorded at The Hub Ibiza Studios and aimed at beginners, she shows us how she’d start a track in the box in Logic using the Analog Lab V and the Keylab Essential 49, whilst sharing some great tips and tricks along the way.
