In September Super Drama Records released their second compilation, ‘Family Drama 2’, which brought together their nearest and dearest, who also happen to be some of the most exciting musical names in East London’s queer scene. Among those involved were ELLES, Reece Spooner, Gina Breeze, Marie Malarie and J.Aria, who’s video we’re sharing with you today.

Shot on a derelict and decaying industrial site near Canary Wharf, with queer club dancer Jazae and Lucia Blayke – founder of London Trans Pride and Harpies (the UK’s first LGBTQIA+ focused strip club) – the video is inspired by queer histories in the late 80s, conjuring up memories of trans* and queer people dancing and loving by New York’s Christopher Street Pier, in the wake of the HIV crisis.

Speaking about the track, J.Aria explains that it was written during “a wildly transitional period of my life, an experience I shared with someone as we both simultaneously discovered new gender identities, ways to define non-heteronormative relationships, new ways to love and speak.”

As always, profits from the entire Super Drama release will be donated to trans* charity Mermaids and the Black LGBTQ Therapy Fund. Available on all major streaming services from September 24th, and to purchase from Bandcamp.
