The alarm rang with an intense scrutiny. It was urgent and rampant – echoing down the halls and piercing the eardrums. They filed out of each room, one by one, following the procedure.

Outside was dark, it was in the middle of the night, the noise had woken them from their sleep.

In the distance was a faint smell of smoke. He masked his face and looked around for the panic button. The switch which might save them all. In an emergency like this there was only one thing to be done.
