Premiere: Alien D – Magnet Dance
Deep dreamy cuts from Alien D in New York.
The lights flickered in the tall office blocks which overlooked the city – it’s funny, some people were attracted to the glitz and glamour of the skyscrapers but for him they felt them to be like vulture preying over the streetwalkers down below. They watched with malice, waiting to suck you up to the high heavens.
As he wandered through the busy streets, headphones on, he was in some kind of melancholy trance. He found himself here often, lost in thought, guided only by the repetition of his footsteps and the magnetic dance which echoed between his ears.
Some day he might escape from this city but for now it was all he had to call home. Some day he might leave.
Alien D is a producer from New York, a key figure in the underground music community. He is set to release a new EP via Budget Cuts – a deep moving downtempo house record which demonstrates great restraint and insight. This one comes from a long lineage of classic house music, meandering between styles with one foot in the present and the other in the past. Highly recommended.
