Music To Watch Seeds Grow By welcome London-based Stella Z to the Seeds family, with her ode to the Fig.

There once was a lady named Stella Z, Who belonged to the Moracae family tree.
She played on her humbunkulous flute unprepared, “My Music To Watch Seeds Grow By,” she declared,
And ziddledy seeds in their beds began dancing!

From London she played, but her heart was in China, Where fig trees had grown with a grace none could finer.
The 无花果—”No Flower Fruit”—a paradoxical name, For blooming within was its secretive game,
While wasps in their symbiotic bond remained!

Her synthesizers pulsed with the sap’s rising power, Field recordings caught fruits by the hour.
From whisper-thin membranes to soft inner worlds, The musical documentary gently unfurled,
A cutting transplanted, a memory sustained!

The concert attracted the quirkulous crowds, Who hummed with the drafts and sang with the clouds.
“Oh! Marvelous Stella!” they shouted with glee, “Your rhythmical drafts make the seedlings agree!”
The Moracae Family could only just stare!

So if you should pass by Miss Stella Z’s grounds, And hear curious, seed-growing, musical sounds,
Remember the melody changing botany’s rules, When Music To Watch Seeds Grow By appeared,
And delightfully made all the gardeners fools!

Recorded in London yet deeply inspired by distant memories from China, the album is a musical documentary that explores the fig—a plant with a profound personal significance to Stella. “The fig tree was the big, generous presence in our old home, feeding my family and neighbours every summer,” Stella shares. “When we moved to an apartment, we thought we had lost the fig tree. But my mum took a cutting and planted it at our new place. To our surprise, a small fig tree started growing again, as if it had never left.”

Fig is dropping at the end of April. Here’s a premiere for ‘Moracae Family’, available to pre-order on Bandcamp now.
