Drama Parlour’s Music To Cut Hair To #5

Andy Taylor started We Are The Sunset a couple of years back, and since then he has been resident at the monthly Balearic gatherings, spending his Sunday afternoons watching the sun set over the Hackney downs. He dropped by to answer some questions and was kind enough to offer his selection for Drama Parlour.   

When were you at your happiest?

In the past: I grew up in Northern Ireland during the height of the Troubles but even with the all politics, fighting and anger on the streets my childhood was pretty cool. I lived & breathed sports… in particular cricket, skateboarding & BMX. Nothing made me happier than the clocks going forward and the days getting longer. Summers were just the best. 
Nowadays: Spending time with my daughter is very precious to me. Whether out & about in London, on holiday or even helping with homework. Being looked up to and relied on constantly gives me a real sense of worth which in turn makes me smile. A lot.

What’s your greatest fear?

Something untoward happening to the girls in my life – my partner Sam & my daughter Amelie. 

Who do you admire?

My mum & Sam. For one and the same reason.

What trait do you deplore in yourself/ other people?

Me: procrastinating
Others: selfishness, dishonesty

What’s your worst habit?

DISCOGS / Going out OUT

Favourite word? 

Ace

Who would you like to say sorry to?

Mark, a mate from back home in Northern Ireland. We were in a pretty bad motor accident in 1988. I was driving. Definitely all my fault. Not the tree’s.  

Who do you despise?

The winning eBay bidder 

Who or what is the love of your life?

Who: My family.
What: Dark corners, flashing lights and music

What would improve your life?

Right now… a couple of weeks holiday. A bit of time to recharge, regroup and take stock of what’s been going on over past year.

 
What’s your greatest achievement?

Getting ‘We Are The Sunset’ up & running and having great support from friends and family to make it happen each month.

What keeps you awake at night?

The neighbours upstairs – don't get me started.

How would you like to be remembered?

For looking out for others and being a supportive parent. 

What lessons has life taught you?

Time is a healer

What would your super power be?

Predicting Euromillions numbers

Favourite smell?

Summer…linseed oil, leather and freshly cut grass… it all harks back to my cricket loving childhood

Who would play you in a film?

Homer Simpson – he's bald, enjoys his beer and at times a bit vacant but always tries his best with friends and family.
