8 Tracks: Of Operation Sunday Autopilot With Hi & Saberhagen

Music

Glasgow-based Hi & Saberhägen released their debut eponymous EP on the lovely Huntley + Palmers label back in 2015, a deep house four tracker, with a taste of tropical and some sub-bass business. The talented pair followed up this year with a release on Anthony Naples' Proibito alongside Huerco S and the label head himself. With the lads heading South for a night in East London, they have delivered us a selection of cuts chosen to help the Sunday head business sort itself out.

Hi & Saberhägen play at New Business this Saturday 24th September 2016 at The Pickle Factory, London. Click here for info and tickets.

Haruomi Hosono - The Image Of A Paradise (1985)

Does it better than most, even now in the era of anyone with a laptop can make fantastic electronic music, his stuff stands tall. A true pioneer and a big inspiration.

  • Oneohtrix Point Never - Power Of Persuasion (Mv)

    I read somewhere all the samples on this were ripped from an early 90s coffee advert. The meandering brassy synth line that guides you through the progressions gets me every time. ;-;

  • Max Roach-Equipoise

    This one goes well with rainy days, coffee and big windows.

  • Animal Collective - Loch Raven

    What I think these guys do best; raw sounds, reserved minimal percussion and hypnotic vocal lullabies.

  • Lubomyr Melnyk - The Voice Of Trees 1

    2 continuous pianos and 3 tubas, a bit of a strange one written down but makes perfect sense when you hear it. A total stress reliever but gets a bit dark on the flip.

  • Huerco S. - Untitled

    Think I remember chatting to Huerco about this track; a loop that him and a mate would jam on throughout one long night. It’s like oscillations having existential conversations while on the road to purgatory.

  • 10 Clube Da Esquina, No. 2

    Absolute sunshine and deep feels from these two MPB legends, would recommend the whole album for those who haven’t heard (and also for those that have). 😉

  • Dj Richard - Vampire Dub

    When you need that reflective post coital cry.
