The pioneering club night powered by JD Twitch & JG Wilkes continues to rampage onwards with a celebration of 25 years on the dancefloor via a new compilation.

Having been in operation since 1997 Optimo remains one of the most pivotal club nights in the UK and has grown a cult following which has allowed the pair to travel the world bringing with them their eclectic, leftfield dance music. Run by JD Twitch and JG Wilkes, first founded out of Glasgow’s infamous Sub Club, the night has since spawned several record label offshoots and has become a hub for creatives and musicians not only in Glasgow but all over.

In 2022 Optimo and Ransom Note teamed up to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the longstanding party with the launch of Watching Trees with the announcement of the festivals exciting return next summer being made earlier this week.

The final act of the 25 year celebrations will see Optimo team up with Above Board Projects for a special compilation showcasing some of the music which has left its mark on their dancefloors over a storied legacy in clubs.

Above Board have described the collection as follows:

” There were 550 Sunday Optimo nights. A LOT of music was played. So, what was the music? People often find it hard to pin down exactly what Optimo is. This has been a positive but also a negative as we live in a world where people want easily defined “brand identities”. The simplest definition of the music played is “music for dancing”, which of course is a very broad definition. Even better than trying to define it in words, we have these 2 volumes of music that give a hint of what that might be. “
