Yazzus announces debut EP, ‘BLACK METROPOLIS’, on Tresor
Yazzus makes her EP debut on Tresor with a five-track release titled BLACK METROPOLIS.
Having made an appearance on the Berlin-based club’s 30 year anniversary compilation, she now returns for a full solo artist release which is inspired by her research into afro-futurism and sonically bridges her love for 90s electronic music with contemporary dance floor sounds.
Taking cues from bass, techno, electro, ghettotech and trance, the release sees Yazzus explore different textures, techniques and rhythms, all collected into a cohesive package through their innate groove and nod to the roots of Black techno.
Speaking about the release, Yazzus said: “I want this release to be black and beautiful, to be queer, and playful, a nostalgic nod to the 90s but also reimagining it in the current times.”
Based between London and Berlin, Yazzus has made a name for herself through her high energy DJ sets and mixes for the likes of Dekmantel, Fact and Mixmag, while her productions have come via labels like Steel City Dance Discs and Hospital Records and Good Enuff.
Listen to ‘Metro City Bay Area’.
BLACK METROPOLIS will be released on 24th October via Tresor.
