Shida Shahabi to release sophomore album, ‘Living Circle’
Stockholm-based composer Shida Shahabi is releasing her sophomore album, ‘Living Circle,’ on June 23rd via FatCat’s 130701 imprint.
Fans of Stars Of The Lid, Sarah Davachi, Max Richter, and Labradford will appreciate the album’s slow and expansive sonic realms. The album follows Shahabi’s 2018 debut, ‘Homes,’ which drew widespread praise for its homespun warmth.
Shahabi, born in 1989 to Iranian parents, grew up in a home filled with the sounds of both ‘70s Persian pop and classical works, and her earliest compositions were notes she played by ear on the family piano. Following four years studying fine art at Stockholm’s Royal Institute of Art, Shahabi began freelancing as a musician and composing music for dance, cinema, theatre and fine art contexts, as well as taking her first steps as a solo artist.
‘Homes’ was a confident debut of a new artist with their own vision, noted Future Music, calling it “a masterclass in simplicity… allowing each note the space and time to become truly affecting.”
Shahabi’s sophomore album, ‘Living Circle,’ sees the artist pushing forward into deeper, more expansive sonic realms.
Available on vinyl, CD and digital formats.
