Sacred Bones to release lost Alan Vega album
The label has announced the release of a new album called “Mutator”. It features what was thought to be lost material by the late musician who pioneered the protopunk group Suicide for many years. Alan Vega recorded endlessly during his musical career and there is thought to be a sprawling vault of unreleased material from the musician which never saw the light of day. Sacred Bones will now release some of this material as part of a new series with the first of that being featured on this record.
Some of the material featured on the record was recorded with his long time collaborator Liz Lamere who has commented on the release of the first single ‘Nike Soldier’ from the new record:
“In all of his artistic expressions Alan had a unique ability to pull from an eclectic mix of cultural references and turn them on their head. If we asked him to to give us a quote about ‘Nike Soldier’ he’d say ‘Do it Just’.”
