Odd Nosdam Pays Tribute To Broadcast’s Trish Keenan
'T r i s h', Odd Nosdam's new EP on Sonic Cathedral, is an homage to the late, sorely missed Broadcast singer Trish Keenan. January 2016 marks the fifth anniversary of her tragic death from pneumonia.
The six-track EP was originally released as a cassette-only affair on the Chicago label Baro. Long sold-out, Sonic Cathedral are now releasing it on clear 12" vinyl with coloured splatter. And the first 50 pre-orders come with an exclusive bonus cassette.
Nosdam (aka David P. Madson) started out producing warped beats as co-founder of Anticon and part of experimental rap group cLOUDDEAD, and has gone on to produce a dizzying body of work that spins abstract webs between British IDM and West Coast hip-hop.
Musically, the EP sees Nosdam revisiting the "haunted, drum-lost remains" of a failed LP. Guest appearances come from Bre'r and Liz Harris of Grouper. You can stream the shimmering, affecting title track below:
'T r i s h' is out Jan 15 on Sonic Cathedral. You can pre-order the EP here.
