Newest Gaika single produced by Mun Sing (Giant Swan)
‘Gladius’ is the second teaser from the forthcoming album ‘War Island OST’ – the joint venture from Shanghai’s SVBCVLT and Mexico’s NAAFI – and is available to listen as of today.
Following the debut single released in anticipation of the London artist’s forthcoming album – the drill-indebted ‘Zatōichi’ – today (9th March) sees the release of its successor.
Produced by one half of illustrious Bristol electronic punk duo, Giant Swan (Mun Sing), ‘Gladius’ pairs fragments of industrial soundscapes with Gaika’s forlorn choral vocals.
The product is a track which is at once otherworldly and deeply rooted in the human: experimental yet accessible – the intersection upon which the London vocalist comes into his powers.
Lyrically, Gaika imagines London as Ancient Rome and recounts the rise and fall of the archetypal rap gladiator in post-pandemic London: a critique of the British class system. Hear them for yourself below.
