Minotaur Shock to release music on Bytes
On April 5, the Bristolian producer Minotaur Shock aka David Edwards returns with his first album under the much-loved moniker for seven years. MINO is the first release on Bytes, a new heterogeneous cassette label and offshoot of our very own Ransom Note Records. The album was mastered by the mighty Keith “Two Lone Swordsmen” Tenniswood at Curved Pressings.
Previously synonymous with the “folktronica” genre, for MINO Edwards has renounced the acoustic guitars, drums and woodwind instruments to get to grips with his machines, resulting in an idiosyncratic collection of captivating electronica, metallic funk and wobbly techno. From experimental, “suck it and see” origins (“basically dicking around in my studio, focusing on the process of creating tracks and sounds, rather than the end result”), Edwards has created an album of singularity and emotional heft that hangs together beautifully as a cohesive whole.
Keep your eyes peeled for another exclusive track premiering on Ransom Note next week…
