MC Yallah returns to Hakuna Kulala for new LP ‘Yallah Beibe’
MC Yallah makes her return to the Nyege Nyege dance-orientated imprint for a new long player.
Once again, the Kampala-based rapper joins forces with production collaborator Debmaster; a follow up to their first outing together in 2019, Kubali.
This time she also welcomes Japanese producer Scotch Rolex and Congolese producer Chrisman who add additional production on the 12-track album, which blends trap, industrial, club, dancehall and experimental sounds.
Her commanding rap style takes centre stage. Skipping through Luganda, English, Kiswahili and Luo, her avant-garde and contemporary approach is focused on “educating the wider world of East Africa’s shrouded history and bright future”.
MC Yallah has been a core part of the East African rap scene since 1999. A member of the Nyege Nyege family, she’s released music for Phantom Limb, alongside Eomac, and on Matador in collaboration with Mdou Moctar.
Watch the video for the first single from the album, ‘Sikwebela’.
Yallah Beibe will be released on 14th April 2022.
