MARGO, Lord Scorpio and Brixton Chamber Orchestra announced as recipients of The Project Fund
Brixton Chamber Orchestra, Lord Scorpio and MARGO are recipients of this year’s ‘The Project Fund’, an initiative run by Pirate studios.
The three recipients, who’ve been selected from 2,750 applicants by 21 judges, were chosen because of their diverse work which is geared towards positive community impact.
Launched in January as a way to nurture collectives and creatives across the UK, America and Europe, The Project Fund will offer the three recipients free studio time at Pirate throughout 2022 to realise their projects.
The first successful applicant are London’s Brixton Chamber Orchestra, who will record ‘Grime Orchestrated’, an album to bridge the gap between Grime and Classical music with the aim of breaking down musical and social barriers. In New York, Lord Scorpio’s project focuses on amplifying the shades, tones and rhythms of New York’s eccentric Queer scene through an EP and podcast. Finally Hamburg-based MARGO has committed to showcasing women in house music in the German city through regular DJ set broadcasts.
Pirate will be documenting the progress of MARGO, Lord Scorpio and Brixton Chamber Orchestra. Learn more about The Project Fund.
