Lost 90s Rolando Mixtape Surfaces
Techno geeks standby… Yesterday Detroit hero and Underground Resistance affiliate Rolando announced, via facebook, that he'd discovered a live recording of a mix he'd completed somewhere in Detroit, sometime in the 90s. Not much to go on, right? When he posted the tape on soundcloud a few hours later it turned out to be an hour and a half of warm machine funk classics, a pitch perfect postcard from another era. From opener Voodoo Ray to the fried discotech bomb that drops round 37 minutes in (that is driving this particular writer crazy trying to remember the title, please someone put me out of my misery…! Is it a Daft Punk remix? Is it Claude Young? Gaaaahhh… the 90s was so long ago… were's my brain gone…) there's gems galore.
Fans are guessing the tape dates from round '95-'96, and we're not going to argue. In terms of a weekend warm up it's verging on the flawless, enjoy below, and follow Rolando on facebook for more similar treasures.
