Khruangbin Announce Debut Lp On Night Time Stories
Texan trio Khruangbin owe Thailand a lot – their name translates as "Engine Fly" and their groove has more than a subtle hint of '60s Thai-funk. Recorded in the same remote barn where their initial rehearsals happened, their debut album The Universe Smiles Upon You is inspired by the 60s/70s Thai cassettes and southeast Asian pop, rock and funk compilations the band would obsessively listen to whilst driving out to the practice space.
Groove-laden guitar music which touches on sultry soul, dreamy-eyed tropicalia and cool-as-fuck surf-rock (check 'The Man Who Took My Sunglasses'), all has a unique shade thrown over it thanks to the Thai scales and melodic inflections the group effortlessly employ.
Released later this year in November through Night Time Stories, the Late Night Tales artist imprint, the album will be available digitally, on CD and as a limited 12", pre-orders for which can be made here.
