Invisible City To Reissue Oluko Imo’s ‘Praise Jah’
Invisible City Editions have announced the re-release of the much sought after record 'Praise Jah' by Oluko Imo.
Fusing together soaring vocals, synthy soca disco, and the sound of Trinidad, 'Praise Jah' will be getting a limited pressing – with Invisible City yet to announce the date of the release.
Born in Trinidad, Imo soon mastered a wide range of instruments, going on to create the legendary spiritual afro jazz groups Mansa Musa and the Black Truth Rhythm Band. In the 80s, he moved to New York City, dividing his time between teaching music and touring Africa with Fela Kuti – both as his manager, but also a band member.
'Praise Jah' is the crown jewel in Imo's glistening career. An elevated electronic mantra that perfectly brings together Imo's love for synthy soca disco with his spiritual afro-Trinidadian leanings. It’s a timeless piece of music that sounds as visionary today as it did when it emerged from the aether back in 1979.
