Genji Sawai’s cult favourite ‘Sowaka’ reissued
Madrid label Glossy Mistakes have announced the re-release of the sought after record.
Genji Sawai’s ‘Sowaka’ has been highly sought after by collectors and is regarded as one of the most pivotal in Japanese avant garde electronics having first been released in 1984.
It features collaborations from Midori Takada and Bill Laswell and has been in high demand of late, fetching sprawling prices on popular vinyl marketplace Discogs.
The release has been remastered for the new edition and is brought back to life.
‘Sowaka’ was acclaimed for its nuance in respect to genre, channeling elements of style and sound which would soon go on to become more associated with that of modern Jazz, Electro, Nu Wave and Hip Hop making it an innovative release ahead of its time.
