E & S brothers’ debut album sees a re-release via Afrosynth Records
‘Taduma’ was originally released in South Africa in 1985 and will be available in both physical and digital form from May this year.
After their debut 12″ ‘Don’t Bang The Taxi Door’, put the Blue Tree label on the map, ‘Taduma’ – meaning ‘the sound of the drum’ – marked the duo’s first full-length release.
It draws from multiple influences: from the native Johannesburg kwaito style and traditional Shangaan work songs, to disco and house. Closer to rapping than singing, the duo perform in a combination of English and vernacular explosive drum machine sounds.
‘Taduma’ will be re-released via Afrosynth Records in May this year. Pre-order the album here.
