Danger Mouse Announces New Record Label, Streams Tracks
Danger Mouse has uploaded two new tracks drawn from his forthcoming compilation 30th Century Records Volume 1. The comp marks the start of 30th Century Records, a label curated by the producer and – on the evidence here – dedicated to classic songwriting with a psychedelic bent. Both tracks streaming today are worth a look – the Sam Cohen cut (co-produced by Danger Mouse) Lose Your Illusion is a heady torch song, swirling with dusty organs and crooned vocals. Meanwhile, Nine Pound Shadow's Melody is a ballad in classic 60s style – apt when considering Danger Mouse's well documented admiration of the Beatles.
Considering the massive global success of Danger Mouse has seen with the likes of Gnarl's Barkly and Black Keys, there's no doubt 30th Century Records will be big – on this showing it looks like it's also going to be good…
