Casiokids
Ever wondered what Royksopp jamming with a hyperactive !!! might sound like? Wonder no more, here are Casiokids. Ignore for now the too-twee name (it’s actually a reference to the kid friendly gigs, jams and workshops they co-ordinate back in their native Norway) Casiokids are a serious concern; a multi-limbed all live groove-machine in the LCD/Talking Heads vein whose twinkling top-lines and <<>>> vocals are the perfect counterpoint to their thick punk-funking grooves and barrelling, utterly infectious enthusiasm. Ask the Red Bull tent who went duly bonkers when they could have been watching Soulwax last year at Bestival; ask Moshi Moshi who snapped up their first two 7″s and who must also be prime candidates to snare their Norway released only remix compilation. Ask Hot Chip who they’re currently touring the country with before heading stateside, to SxSW and beyond. Or don’t ask anyone. Head to the Camden Barfly Thursday night and see for yourself.
