Broken English Club and Autumns release first EP as Vacant Heads
Vacant Heads is the new project of Christian Donaghey (Autumns) and Oliver Ho (Broken English Club).
Their debut self-titled EP, which finds a home on Touch Sensitive, sees the two pitting their synergetic sounds against one another for a taste of what you can expect from them in future.
Having previously worked together when Autumns released on Broken English Club’s Death and Leisure label, as well as appearing together on many lineups, the pair found much common ground and set about collaborating and forming a live act.
The four tracks on their first release conjure up images of “a brutal and busted city” matching post-punk electronics with distorted industrial synths, deep dub-wise rhythms and raw EBM influences.
This marks Autumns’ fourth time releasing on Touch Sensitive, after two EPs and an album on the Belfast-based label. His raw blend of EBM, post-punk and industrial has also led to a lengthy string of releases for the likes of Detriti, DKA, Clan Destine and many more. Broken English Club has held a longstanding relationship with L.I.E.S. releasing four LPs, including his White Rats trilogy, as well as EPs for labels like Cititrax, Jealous God and his own Death and Leisure imprint.
To celebrate the launch of the release, the pair will play their first live set at Shacklewell Arms on 4th August.
