Not Me But Us: The ‘Monday Is OK’ Mix
Italian duo Not Me But Us, composed of pianist Bruno Bavota and producer Fabrizio Somma (known as K-Conjog), released their debut album Two back in March on the ever excellent Sonic Cathedral.
Music from where two distinct musical worlds collide, the result is a rich tapestry of sound that incorporates elements of ambient, techno, post-classical, and even hints of 2000s electronics and post-rock.
A narrative of connection and shared emotion, a soundtrack to the duo’s musical journey that began in the fragmented music scene of Naples and was further shaped by the pandemic’s isolation. This project, marked by serendipitous events and profound creativity, is a promising beginning for Not Me But Us, inviting listeners to join them on a voyage of sound and sentiment…
With all that in mind how about a Monday Is OK from the pair and chat about what they’re all about hey? Go on then…
Listen below:
Who are you: We are Not Me But Us. Bruno and Fabrizio, two people that music let us be friends.
Where are you: In the clouds.
What are you: Two decent (we hope) human beings.
Tell us about the Monday mixtape you’ve put together for us.
We put together music that has been always in our ears in the past decade. Music which we’re always comforted with and little hidden gems that we strongly believe must be heard.
If it were to be drawn what would it look like?
Impression, Sunrise by Claude Monet
If it were a food what would it be?
Ramen
What would be the ideal setting to listen to the mix?
During your morning routine when you’re making your coffee on a rainy day. Please be slow and take your time.
What should we be wearing?
A dressing gown and a suit ready for dancing underneath.
Where was it recorded?
In the studio.
How do you feel about Mondays in general, excited…or?
We have a strange job and we really can’t feel how a Monday feels. We’re always excited to work. Bruno is going to the movies shortly.
Who got you hooked on electronic music?
Fabrizio has always been a fan of electronic music as he started as a producer and he already has a good taste in electronic music and music in general. Bruno started to enjoy electronic music during the pandemic when he made his first attempt at synth sounds with his project Apartment Loops.
Who would you say are your biggest influences and what are you hoping to achieve with your music?
As a duo we have multiple influences in our music and it’s a thing that we always share when we’re in the studio. We listen to a lot of music before and after our studio sessions. We have common albums that we hugely love but we also share a lot of music that the other didn’t know. We get inspired by ambient, electronic, synthwave, post classical, minimal techno, 2000s club culture music.
What were your original aspirations as musicians and how do you think you’re shaping up?
Trying to make (possibly) good music and being real and sincere with ourselves in this mad world.

Better being alone 🙂
Your doctor says you need more exercise….what do you take up for exercise?
