An eclectic mix of Downtempo, Funk, House and beyond from Austrian electronic music producer Peter Kalcic.

This month marks the release of a new album from Austrian producer B.Visible.

The self released album is called ‘Life Is My Hobby’ and features ten tracks which draw influence from the 90’s golden era of Trip Hop, RnB and the Balearic leanings associated with chill-out Ibiza.

The record is a perfect soundtrack to autumnal evenings, laced with elegant vocals and melodies. An accomplished album by a producer who clearly hosts an interesting array of influences.

This mix starts showcasing his interest in the Balearic fringes of electronic music, before descending into classic House and Breaks.

Listen and read the interview below:

Please introduce yourself…

Hi my name is Peter.

Who are you, where are you and what are you?

I’m a music producer originally from Ljubljana, Slovenia, and I’ve been living in Vienna for quite some time. Under the alias B.Visible, I produce electronic music. I also enjoy working on rap instrumentals, and recently we formed a pop punk band.
Another passion of mine is expressing myself artistically through various digital media formats.

What does your music sound like? Can you draw what you think it sounds like for us (an image from the old internet is acceptable)?

Where was the mix recorded?

In my studiospace in Vienna.

What would be the ideal setting to listen to the mix?

A comfy train heading south.

What should we be wearing?

Casual Clothes. Your favorite fancy tracksuit for instance.

What would be your dream setting to record a mix: Location/system/format?

A vineyard, with quality speakers and a vinyl setup. Sunset vibes, playing for my best friends while sipping some exquisite wine.

Which track in the mix is your current favourite?

I like the Giuseppe Leonardi Track “Deadline” from his latest EP “7”. Nice guy and really good producer from Vienna.

What’s your favourite recorded mix of all time?

I recorded DJ DSL to tape from Austria’s FM4 radio station around 2004, and I still listen to this mix a few times each year. In fact, it’s my favorite tape to play while preparing time-consuming dishes.

If you could go back to back with any DJ from throughout history, who would it be and why?

Choosing a legend, for instance, would make me really nervous and distract me from focusing on the set. In that case, I prefer to play with friends. I recently did a back-to-back set with Attila from Atropa, which I really enjoyed, and I’m looking forward to repeat that soon.

What was your first DJ set up at home and what is it now?

First was two vestax pdx and a battle mixer.

I’m now using two MK1210s and the same mixer, the Rane TTM56.

What’s more important, the track you start on or the track you end on?

The peak time of the set is the most important for me, and I usually choose the final track carefully.

What were the first and last records you bought?

My first record was a German rap album called Dynamite Deluxe – Deluxe Soundsystem. The last one was the DJ Duke Afri-Kah EP, which can also be heard in the mix.

If this mix was an edible thing, what would it taste like?

It would have a flavor profile that is slightly salty, sweet, and fruity in the center, with a crunchy texture.

If it was an animal what would it be?

A flamingo

One record in your collection that is impossible to mix into anything?

There are many. I’ve bought a lot of obscure records just for sampling.

Upcoming in the world of…

I have a new LP titled Life Is My Hobby out now. The mix is primarily built around several tracks from the album, so if you liked the vibe, you’ll probably enjoy the full release. It’s available on vinyl and digital formats.

Anything else we need to discuss?

Also, keep an eye out for the next Luv Shack Disco Biscuits, featuring a slow disco jam.
