Secretsundaze celebrates 20th anniversary with string of multi-venue parties
In celebration of their 20th birthday, UK clubbing institution Secretsundaze have announced a string of special London-based events throughout 2022.
The year-long series begins at Fabric on 30th January, harking back to the party’s early days with an all-day Sunday fixture that sees co-founders Giles and James taking over Room 2 for an extended B2B. The festivities continue on 12th March at Colour Factory, where the pair will be joined by Ash Lauryn, Alex Kassian and Aqwea, before moving to Venue MOT on 14th April with the line up still yet to be revealed.
Then on 14th May the party returns to its regular home of Oval Space for a classic day and night party to usher in the summer, featuring a UK debut of US rapper, DJ and producer Galcher Lustwerk’s brand new live show and DJ sets from Bianca Lexis, Jonny Rock and many more still to be announced.
The first half of the year’s events conclude with another day and night party, spread across five dance floors in Hackney Wick, celebrating the long-running open-air dancing tradition that defines Secretsundaze. Veering away from big headliners, the event will instead focus on15 party favourites from across the dance music spectrum who’ll all be playing extended sets.
Co-founder James Priestley said: “We feel super lucky to have been able to do what we love for so long and we really wouldn’t be here without the support of our incredible community, a constant source of inspiration and strength. Whilst it’s great to take stock on reaching the 20-year milestone, we’re even more excited about what the future holds and the various different directions we’re planning to take things. Long live Sundaze!”
Secretsundaze has long been in a league of its own, with its familial atmosphere, forward thinking approach to programming and emphasis on production a testament to why it’s stood the test of time. Over the last 20 years, co-founders James and Gilles have hosted parties around London and across the world, bringing the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Omar S, Move D, Peach and many many more to play alongside them. Their Dance 2 Sustain initiative was launched last year as an action against climate change, which includes a £1 “green tax” on tickets, reusable plastic cups at all events and negotiations on travel for international artists to offset their carbon footprint.
