A guide to the upcoming edition of Polaris Festival – who to see amidst the snow capped mountains.

This month will see the return of the much loved and celebrated festival Polaris.

The winter festival has become a signifying moment in the electronic music calendar having consistently played host to some of the most exciting and innovative names in dance. This year is no exception.

Headline performances come from the likes of Bicep, The Blessed Madonna, Nina Kraviz and Carl Craig this year. However there is also a wealth of talent to be found elsewhere on the festival programme.

The mountains of Verbier will become the home across two weekends with the festival also partnering with  Motreux Jazz Festival and Detroit Love for two special showcases as part of the edition.

Tickets are on sale for individual days and weekend passes now HERE.

Check out some of our picks from the event…

Olive T

A key figure in the underground house and techno scene in New York, Olive T has worked tirelessly and has become one of the city’s favourite dj’s. She has released material via Nervous records, 2MR, Bouquet and On Loop Records and knows more than a thing a two about capturing a crowd in a groove on the dancefloor. Her sound is often uplifting and yet is rooted in the trials and tribulations of the house scene which came before.

  • Audrey Danza

Swiss-DJ Audrey Danza is a resident at the club Motel Campo, in Geneva. Not a DJ to play it safe, her high energy sets see her move between fast paced cosmic techno, italo, trance and beyond mutating styles and sabotaging genres as she goes. As the co founder of Proxima Records she has used the label as an outlet for her own productions and edits alongside releasing and reissuing material from a breadth of sources. Perhaps the most prominent release on the label came in the form of a reissue of Javier Segura’s ”
    Nostalgia De Lo Humano”.

  • Paranoid London

Our favourite acid troublemakers. Paranoid London have become renowned for their wild, high energy performances using hardware to create a heavy, druggy, crunchy explosion of noise which is reminiscent of old raves and dark rooms. Bound to entertain, the pair are electric in the booth and really do deliver a masterclass in what it means to play ‘live’ as an electronic act.

  • Kyle Hall

A leading figure of the new Detroit generation. Over the years his sound has mutated, wandering between abstract beat excursions on the likes of Hyperdub through to dusty house focussed tracks on his own Wild Oats and Forget The Clock. Over the years he has shown himself to be a uniquely innovative producer, not bound by constraints, very much following in the footsteps of those that have gone before. Oh, and he is also wicked as a DJ.

  • Dj Holographic

Another missionary from Detroit, Dj Holographic is self described as a ‘one-woman funk machine’. She weaves influences into her sets, blurring the lines between Hip Hop, RnB, House, Techno and beyond into a wild yet cohesive sound which is truly her own. Highly rated, some might say she’s become a bit of a DJ’s favourite DJ amidst Detroit heads and you can bet your bottom dollar that if she’s being championed by some of those heads then she’s gotta’ be good. One not to miss.
