A return to ambient and hauntological sound, exploring the lingering human presence through ethereal, improvised soundscapes.

UK-based musician and producer Bibio (Stephen James Wilkinson) is set to release ‘Phantom Brickworks (LPII)’ on November 22 through Warp Records. The album marks a return to his ambient and hauntological sound, diverging from his folky-psychedelic-electronic-pop roots. Inspired by decaying landscapes and abandoned industrial sites across Britain, Bibio explores the lingering human presence in these locations through ethereal, improvised soundscapes.

Building on the themes introduced in his 2017 album *Phantom Brickworks*, the new release continues to reflect Bibio’s fascination with the atmospheres of places charged with history. Bibio states, “Humans are highly sensitive to the atmospheres of places… echoes and voices can sometimes be heard, in some way or another. Places sometimes have things to say.” The album blends improvised piano loops, baritone guitars, and ambient textures to evoke the haunting beauty of these forgotten spaces.

Critically acclaimed for his mastery of atmosphere, Bibio’s work on *Phantom Brickworks (LPII)* has been described as “haunted” and “drenched in texture,” offering an immersive auditory experience. The first single, “Dinorwic,” is available now, giving listeners a preview of the album’s meditative tone.
