Circuit Diagram – Motown
German duo Circuit Diagram purveyors of a sound informed by early 70s German music, Motown and 80s Detroit techno have just released the video for their latest single 'Motown'… and we've got the premiere!
Originating from the gloriously inter-tangled scene between Hamburg and Berlin, Circuit Diagram are a live act and production duo fusing hypnotic psychedelic and krautrock tendencies with live drums and electronics.
The three original tracks featured here are some of the first tracks to be recorded from the coupling of Nicolas (Drums / Vibes) and Chris (Samples / Programming). ‘Motown’ features fellow Berlin-based originator Touchy Mob on vocals, telling a touching, foreboding and spaced-out tale of modern melancholy. The sparkling electronics of ‘Liebknecht’ and ‘Evi’ then follow, only scratching the surface of what these guys can do in a more energetic, nocturnal situation.
On the B side we find an extended, freeform version of ‘Motown’, inspired by a long night at the Kraniche Klub, Hamburg, where label co-founder Ed Davenport was invited by the band to DJ. A 6 hour eclectic 4/4 jam ensued, complete with a mid-March snow storm gently raging outside, and thus the blueprint for this record was complete.
No Counter is a new sister label for Counterchange Recordings, founded by Berlin-based Ed Davenport alongside Manchester-based Alex Hall, with an emphasis on live acts, acoustic sounds, leftfield pop and extended dub-disco excursions. No Counter combines the eccentricities of two Englishmen who, although displaced by land and sea, share one true goal; to release outstanding electronic music and offer a creative platform for new and emerging artists.
