Reform Radio are giving young creatives the chance to learn about record label management
In response to the government’s ongoing negligence towards the arts, Reform Radio has given young creatives the opportunity to try their hand at managing a record label.
Run in collaboration with organisations Youth Music and Sound with Mike, the programme will allow seven people across Greater Manchester to learn, plan and execute the release cycle of ten tracks over four releases. The records will be distributed by Reform’s partner label Rhythm Lab Records, with a 60/40 split in favour of the artists. Participants in the scheme will also be paid for their efforts.
“It is vital that organisations like ours are doing what they can do ensure the next generation of those wishing to work in the creative industries are able to continue to develop new skills and gain industry experience, despite the ongoing pandemic” says Jemma Tanswell, Director of the station.
Rhythm Lab Records has been releasing compilations featuring artists such as Mr Scruff and Swing Ting since 2018.
