Noods Radio launch listener membership to support their long term future

Bristol independent radio station Noods Radio have launched a listener support scheme to help ensure the station’s long term sustainability and support the residents involved.

After relying on events, merchandise and crowdfunding to help keep the station going, Noods are now working towards a more sustainable model that will help the station grow and keep it ad-free and independent. All money from Noods Luvers memberships, which start at just £3 a month and include special access to events and merch, will go straight back the station, helping to pay licensing fees and production costs, streaming infrastructure and studio maintenance – all the costs that contribute to creating hours of radio.

Noods said: “We’re introducing the scheme to futureproof ourselves and create a more sustainable station. We’ve been able to get this far with the support of the community and sales from events and merchandise but to continue growing and meeting demand, we need more team members, better equipment and to be able to create more paid opportunities for creatives. Over the last few years we’ve worked with thousands of artists celebrating alternative music and in doing so we’ve built a community of misfits, dancers, collectors, and selectors dedicated to discovering and sharing music.” 

Since launching in 2016, Noods Radio has become home to 300 residents from around the world, broadcasting shows from across all genres of music 24/7 online and via DAB to thousands of listeners each week. Artists that have broadcast on the station include, Mike Dunn, Lena Willikens, Laurel Halo, Laraaji, Mica Levi, Iglooghost, Ciel, Geoff Barrow (Portishead), Regis, Shanti Celeste, Om Unit, Nilufer Yanya, Batu, Smith & Mighty, MHYSA, Paleman, Sherelle, Gigi Masin, Vladimir Ivkovich and many more.
