Keith Flint of The Prodigy found dead at Essex home
The news was announced by Essex Police this morning following the discovery of a 49 year old man at a house in the county earlier today.
A spokesperson issued the following statement:
“We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man at just after 8.10am on Monday. We attended and sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
A post on The Prodigy's official Instagram account from bandmate Liam reads as follows:
"I can't believe I'm saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend. I'm shell-shocked, angry, confused and heart broken."
The Prodigy frontman was one of the most significant figures in British dance and electronic music, acting as a pioneer for rave culture in the UK across decades. The group from Essex was formed in 1990 and is made up Liam Howlett, Leeroy Thornhill and formerly Keith Flint. The Prodigy were still active having released a new album, 'No Tourists', as recently as last year on BMG.
Tributes have already begun to pour in online with many reacting in shock to the frontman's passing.
