The Berlin festival has announced some of the artists and performers who will be joining them as part of a wide ranging programme showcasing the versatility and future of underground music and pop culture.

Pop-Kultur has revealed its programme for the upcoming August edition of the long running festival series. The multi day event will take place in Berlin from the 28th until the 30th of August across a number of venues and spaces in the German capital.

The festival has become well known for its eclectic approach to programming, making sure to be inclusive and far reaching in respect to the artists and communities it invites to contribute. This year is no exception and the line up looks as action packed and impressive as always.

Names announced so far include the likes of A Certain Ratio, Jaako Eino Kalevi, James K, Mary Ocher, The KVB, Zebra Katz, Priya Ragu and many more.

Alongside music the festival also seeks to promote a number of other artistic disciplines including talks, readings and commissioned pieces which range across art, dance, performance and more.

Other musicians on the programme include Iranian electronic folk music band Esfand, experimental electronic producer Blinky Bill from Kenya, US American punk-ravers Sextile, Hamburg all-female hip-hop collective bangerfabrique and Frankfurt rapper OG LU.

A number of world premieres will also be showcased at the event including Iranian artist Pari Eskandari, whose »Chadors« was released on Tricky’s label False Idols and is devoted to exploring inner psychological states and worlds – her own as well as those of her family. Meanwhile video artist Lillevan, musician Schneider TM and guests welcome you to the audiovisually immersive »echo chamber UTOPIA«, dealing with the uncertain future of the Anthropocene.
