Daytime Soundsystem party in Deptford set to celebrate Queer Identities
On Sunday 29th May London’s foremost underground LGBTQ+ crews come together on the grounds of The Shipwrights House, Lewisham’s most beautiful private residence, for a day of free music.
Presented in partnership with London Borough of Culture, DQSD celebrates queer sound system collectives and South London’s unique cultural heritage.
Situated on a hidden Deptford backstreet, this riverside garden will host an old school sound system with cutting edge DJ’s all day long.
The event will take place on Sunday the 29th of May later this month.
Presented in partnership with LBoC, The Albany, Love Music Hate Racism and R3 Soundsystem, this event promises to remember and celebrate South London’s rich sound system heritage. Curator and “guest creative director” for music at LBoC, Gideon says, “I grew up in South London, and free sound systems in London parks were the highlight of my summers. I’m excited to update this phenomena for 2022 with DQSD.”
Guests on the day will include OK Williams, Black Obsidian Sound System, Gideon, Hannah Holland, Shay Malt, Deptford Northern Soul Club and Sugarbear.
