Comedy Slices #37
Come along settle down now, forget about the schizophrenic weather, the commute and ridiculously long queue for coffee this morning – go submerse yourself in a comedy slice filled with comedy legends, fresh faces, experiments and therapy.
Friday 15th Knock2Bag East Rich Mix London – 10
Sean Hughes, one of Never Mind The Buzzcockss original team captains (yes even before curly haired Amstell) and Perrier Award winner, is back on the stand up circuit! After a substantial time away he is hitting up East London at the cult comedy night Knock2Bag. Alongside the legendary Hughes will be the award winning fresh faces of comedy Bobby Mair and Kwame Asante, making for a pretty slick bill. And it doesn’t end there – Brian Gittins, Jacob Edwards and Dave Green will also be joining the fun.
Thursday 13th Comedy Showcase – Backyard Comedy Club – 5
And from the established to the showcasing. Join two David Ws (Ward and Whitney) as a comedy hamster for the night. Experiments will be performed by comedy pros and newcomers testing out their new jokes. Some may not have the timing quite perfected but who wants stale perfection? Tonight’s joke experiments from Will Marse, Evelyn Mok, Dan Kelly, Tez Illyas, Philip Simon, Luke Toulson and Milo McCabe.
Monday 17th Marcus Brigstocke: Je Maccuse I am Marcus – Canal Caf Theatre – 7.50
After a run at playing King Arthur in Spamalot, the master of saitre Marcus Brigstocke is back to stand up, performing a few runs of his latest show in London ahead of the Fringe Festival. This latest offering steers away from his usual political slants and gets into the nitty gritty of …himself. From the affair with a soapstar on Spamalot that very publicly caused the wreck of his 12 year marriage (couldn’t make this up if I tried) to his eating disorder this show is an honest exploration of his life. A combination of work and therapy? Maybe. Most definitely but well I’m intrigued. And nosy.
