Bjarki readies new concept album, A Guide to Hellthier Lifestyle
Known for his soundscapes and satirical take on modern culture, this new LP delves into wellness and influencer culture.
Icelandic electronic producer Bjarki Sigurðarson is set to release his new concept album, A Guide to Hellthier Lifestyle, on December 12th. Mixing storytelling with hyper-stereo techniques, AI-generated voices, and soothing melodies it draws inspiration from artists like Coil and Genesis P-Orridge. The album provides a critical yet humorous look at self-improvement obsessions in contemporary society.
Bjarki’s upcoming album will be released under his new label, Differance, co-founded with Thomas Harrington Rawle. The first standalone single, “10,000 Steps but Still Biting My Nails,” is now available for streaming. The album promises a rich sonic experience, blending ambient, experimental, and electronic elements that explore both the absurdities and deeper reflections of the modern condition.
Bjarki describes the project as a “big hug to the world,” combining satire with spiritual undertones and a playful rebellion against societal norms.
“I moved part of my studio to Latvia and continued in the countryside for few months. I realised that I just wanted to give people something beautiful. This album is a big hug from me to the world. So, yeah, this album is all of that. It’s spiritual, bits and pieces from the past, all these weird cultural moments, and whatever strange places my head goes. It’s a reflection, a rebellion, a bit of a piss take. But mostly, it’s just me, doing what I do.”
The album will be released only in its entirety, on December 13th, with no advance singles. Instead there are two standalone tracks, the first of which – ‘10’000 Steps but still biting my nails’ – is released today.
