Comedy Slice #66
Before the rain starts again and we all lose the will to venture out, let’s have a look at three comedy nights that will tempt you to channel the fisherman look, donning your waterproofs and head for the big outdoors (or rather the comforting arms of some comedy)
Thursday 20th // Monkey Business Comedy // The Oxford Kentish Town // 10
First up, is Monkey Business Comedy. The venue for this night is in a pub which means that if you do become stranded or trapped due to flooding then you will have all the vital provisions (scampi and alcohol) close at hand. The night is also brimming to the rafters with acts so boredom will never be an issue. Tonight’s line up includes the award winning Ellie Taylor, Richard Soames, Paul Flannery, Omar Hamdi, Rob Collins, David Seymour, Paul Bridgeman, Robin Cousins, Tim Rivett, Harriet Fisher, Jonathan O Neill, Elizabeth Scott Sahar Mirhadi, Jennier Grey, Katie Truelove and MC Martin Besserman.
Saturday 22nd // Knock2Bag East // RichMix // 8
Saturday Night! Another week done and time to dance around like a 90s Danish Pop Star. Alternatively, you could head down to Rich Mix for some award winning comedy from the Knock2Bag crew. (Of course you can do both, it’s the mother flipping weekend – there are NO rules.) On the line up tonight is star of BBC3’s Uncle Nick Helm whose stand-up style like a lightening bolt will give you the shock you need to shed your week’s cocoon and reveal your weekend butterfly. Joining Helm on the line up is star of Game of Thrones Gemma Whelan, 2013 Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominee Mike Wozniak, Fin Taylor, Flange Kramer, Lolly Adefope and Milo McCabe.
Tuesday 25th // BattleActs // Vault Festival // 8.50
Shake up your Tuesday with a trip down to the Vaults at Waterloo for BattleActs. This award-winning late night comedy show sees two teams of heavy-weight improvisers battle it out in a mix of verbal and physical challenges to be crowned improv champions. And the power to crown the winners lies with the audience (I can feel the power already going to my head). In the dark vaults of Waterloo this is sure to be a no-holding back battle of epic improv proportions.
