East Side Stories, the touring Japanese film programme, will run at the ICA for a week starting today – showcasing a number of fims from across Japan and including various Q&A’s with the film directors.
The programme includes the cult 1968 film ’18 Who Cause a Storm’ by director Yoshishige Yoshida (showing on Feb 1st)- a tale that looks at the conditions of temporary Japanese workers in the 60s.
Also showing is Otakus in Love from director Suzuki Matsuo, set in and around the weird world of Cosplay conventions (Manga role-playing, for the uninitiated).
For the full programme and to buy tickets, check out the ICA website.
