Pete and the Pirates, Scubaroots & The Disablists conclude the line-up for Farmfestival 2011.

The South West’s best kept secret returns for its 6th year, featuring; Pete and the Pirates, Dodgy, Man Like Me, DJ Vadim, Soul of Man, The Disablists, Fiction, Polock & Scubaroots.

Farmfestival originally started as a party for friends, with the intention no more than a little fun and fundraising for charity back in 2006. No one expected the party to balloon year after year to become a festival with three thousand people making their way down to Somerset to see bands such as Friendly Fires, Egyptian Hip Hop and Wild Palms.

These days, goers can expect a down-to-earth yet energetic community ambience, a superlative mix of bands and DJs, luscious local produce and an eclectic crowd of people in the know, and people who know how to party. Rest assured the weekend is still firmly rooted in its original sponsor-free, queue-free and inexpensive spirit. Each year run in support of Practical Action, Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance, and now The British Stammering Association.

This years Farmfestival will take place on Friday and Saturday 29th / 30th July in its usual organic farm spot at the heart of the Somerset countryside. At 35 for an adult weekend ticket, Farmfestival is not only the most affordable festival of the summer but an intimate and lively alternative to the large commercial festivals.

Infectious pop 5-piece Pete and the Pirates will be headlining on Saturday night touring their bolder, beefier second album One Thousand Pictures to compliment their pristine pop debut Little Death with its renowned single Mr. Understanding.

Mixing the old and the new, nineties favorites Dodgy will play Saturday night sundown 16 years after their legendary set to a packed out Other Stage at neighboring Glastonbury. Friday night will see Man Like Me carry on their best live UK act reputation when they play against the beautiful Somerset vista. Finishing the nights mainstage will be one of Bristols hottest club secrets, Scubaroots a nine-piece funk, ska and drum n bass live act disciplined in party starting.

More breaking talent comes in the form of Fiction, whose ear-worm of a single, Big Things has been on heavy rotation on BBC 6music. Doyle & the Fourfathers; a band who headlined the aforementioned radio station’s successful Save 6music Day are also booked. Two bands on the cusp of breaking through and making it big this year, Brightons Pope Joan and Barcelonas hottest new export Polock, will be sharing the main stage on Saturday.

In the other tents, the days will be filled with the joyous sounds of gypsie punk, experimental folk, big band escapades, high energy country rock, electronic pop, acapella trios and the occasional whimsical pop song from the best local and up-and-coming bands on our musical radar.

And its not just breaking bands at this years Farmfestival; two heavyweight DJs will be headlining consecutive nights in the Farmfestival marquee. The Legendary
DJ Vadim graces the decks on the Friday night bringing his inimitable blend of hip-hop, D&B and electronica to Farmfest for the 3rd year running. Saturday night will see Finger Lickin’ Records’ head honcho, Justin Rushmore aka Soul of Man, grace the Farmfestival wheels of steel. Finger Lickin’ (home to Krafty Kuts, A-Skillz, The Plump DJs) has been the at the forefront of the breakbeat scene since it’s inception 13 years ago. Justins Dj skills are second to none. The tent line-up also features a club set by 4 times UK DMC Team Champions, The Disablists.
