Acclaimed electronic artist’s new LP blends experimental club sounds with natural landscapes and Latin American influences

Ireland-based Uruguayan artist Lila Tirando a Violeta has announced her new album ‘Dream Of Snakes,’ set for release on April 25, 2025, via Berlin-based label Unguarded. The announcement comes alongside the release of the album’s first single, “New Flesh,”…

Following her acclaimed albums ‘Limerencia’ and the Hyperdub-released ‘ACCELA,’ this new collection of experimental club tracks represents a creative evolution influenced by her 2023 relocation from the Netherlands to Ireland. The album merges her South American heritage with her newfound appreciation for Ireland’s rural landscapes, while drawing inspiration from science fiction, post-punk, and the body horror films of David Cronenberg.

“I wanted to feel the music coursing through my nervous system, that same adrenaline rush I get when watching a David Cronenberg film,” Lila explains. The album’s title references a recurring dream about snakes that she experienced before moving to Ireland—a dream she found strangely comforting rather than frightening.

During the creation process, Lila incorporated field recordings captured during daily hikes in the Irish countryside, layering them with synthesizers, rhythms, and vocals. Her research into the meaning of her snake dreams led her to rediscover “Sueño con Serpientes,” a song by Cuban songwriter Silvio Rodríguez that her grandparents often played during her childhood. This connection became a guiding influence as she completed the album.

The nine-track album features several collaborations, including “Ostrich: NÞandú” with Björk collaborators SideProject, “Heavy is the Soul” and “Eco del Olvido” with Lighght, and “Eye Slice” featuring JQ. Two bonus remixes by G3 and Sueuga will also be included.

Over the past five years, Lila has established herself internationally with releases on respected labels like Hyperdub and N.A.A.F.I, along with audiovisual performances at festivals including Mutek, Primavera Sound, Boiler Room, and Unsound. Praised by Pitchfork as creating “an archaeological record of club music textures” and described by Bandcamp Daily as “one of the most interesting and important musicians in electronic music,” she has collaborated with artists including Loraine James, Amnesia Scanner, Nick León, and Nicola Cruz.

Lila will be performing at LEV festival in Gijón, Spain on May 4th, with additional tour dates to be announced soon.

‘Dream Of Snakes’ will be released on cassette and digital formats and evil streaming platforms on 25th April 2025 via Unguarded.
