Rare Effect 2024, Europe’s original decentralized technology, art, and music festival, returns to Lisbon from November 7 to 16 at Arroz Estúdios. Now in its fifth edition, the festival will explore this year’s theme of “Obsolescence,” encouraging artists, technologists, and audiences to reflect on the impact of rapid technological progress on human resilience and cultural relevance. Exhibits will span digital media such as AI and AR installations, immersive sound and light sculptures, and workshops covering Web3 and crypto technologies.
Under full control of Arroz Estúdios for the first time, the festival aims to foster discussion on how technology influences cultural systems, traditional skills, and community resilience. Featured artists and contributors include Abinadi Meza, Alexandra Gavrilova, and Gingy, with performances from musicians like DJ Nigga Fox, Kaitlyn, and Débora King & Miguel Fernández.
