Sportsmanship: The ‘Shine A Light On’ Mix
Left Bank resident Sportsmanship shows us what’s happening in Tblisi.
These days residents are rare – those who are lucky enough to have the chance to play the same club with consistency and establish a sound are few and far between. What’s more, they need to understand the lay of the land and what dancers should expect from the club they call home.
Left Bank is in Tblisi and was founded by Gacha Bakradze, Ash Scholem is the lead booker – two Georgian artists who have gone on to reach critical acclaim across Europe and beyond. Now it is about putting trust in a fresh wave of DJ’s and producers who can breathe life into a future generation of dancers.
Dropping several releases under his alias ‘Sportsmanship’, producer and DJ based in Georgia Rati Eradze’s productions and selections are stylish and unique. He has played alongside an assortment of DJ’s and has made a name for himself as a recognised selector.
We invited him to deliver a mix which symbolises where he’s at.

Please introduce yourself…
Hi, I’m Rati – a producer & DJ from Tbilisi, Georgia.
What does your music sound like? Can you draw what you think it sounds like for us (an image from the old internet is acceptable)?
Generally, I like to think that my own stuff sounds wobbly, childish and semi-light-hearted. But others would probably disagree. It can vary to extremes.
Where was the mix recorded?
At a Left Bank Clubnight on the 17th of March, 2023 – this is the last hour of my warm-up set for Eoin DJ, they did an amazing job afterwards and it was definitely a night to remember!
What would be the ideal setting to listen to the mix?
At a Left Bank Clubnight on the 17th of March, 2023. But that ship has sailed, sadly.
What should we be wearing?
🫦
What would be your dream setting to record a mix: Location/system/format?
Honestly, I’m very neurotic when it comes to mixes since I look at it from a producer’s point of view, so I’d definitely prefer doing an arranged mix at home with infinite time & all the necessary setup in a cleansed state of mind.
Which track in the mix is your current favourite?
Hands down ‘Doss – Strawberry’
What’s your favourite recorded mix of all time?
I find myself returning to some Elysia Crampton mixes from the 2010s, along with the Blowing Up The Workshop mix from Wordcolour – it really stuck with me for the last 4 years. But I don’t really have any all-time favorites in anything, really – same principle would apply for the next question.
If you could go back to back with any DJ from throughout history, who would it be and why?
N/A
What was your first DJ set up at home and what is it now?
It’s nonexistent aside from my laptop and audio interface – most people I know, including me, learned DJing itself & the technicalities of CDJs whilst actually trainwrecking random small venues. Truly an authentic, fun experience.
What’s more important, the track you start on or the track you end on?
Depends on the timeslot, I’d say. But I guess the end is what people remember the most?
What were the first and last records you bought?
I was never a record collector in my teens so I started collecting pretty late – the first record was the TOXE / Crystallmess split from PAN in 2019, and the last was Denouement by Carlo Maria on Brutaż. Both are definite favorites from my collection.
If this mix was an edible thing, what would it taste like?
Jello shots, I’d say. Not that I know what that tastes like
If it was an animal what would it be?
I don’t know, a dog? Wiener dog, maybe.
One record in your collection that is impossible to mix into anything?
Koehler – Futuring
126 BPM or 384? God knows… (It’s 126)
Upcoming in the world of Sportsmanship
I self-released my first EP on Nina Protocol (definitely check this platform out if you don’t know yet, shout out to IKJ!) last November, and now I think I’m finally ready to start work on a fresh project, hopefully releasing somewhere in early 2024. Let’s see…
Anything else we need to discuss?
Only the political and economic state of the world.
