A sonic diary with uh
uh are the kind of band you won’t forget in a hurry.
It’s not just the bitesize witticism of their name, once you’ve seen the South London-based brother-sister duo live in action you’ll be crawling back for seconds as soon as you possibly can.
Their mesmerising fusion of synth-pop, techno and acid, with a nod to their Celtic roots, is delivered through a string of frenetic and electrifying hardware workouts, with a few tender moments thrown in that are paired with Fionnuala’s stirring vocals.
Many of these buzzing live experiments now form their debut LP, humanus, which is set for release on PRAH Recordings next month. As they gear up for the album drop, we’ve invited them to join us in the basement of The Social for our monthly residency on 14th April for an extended live set.
Before that, they’ve picked out some of their favourite sound and visuals that are seeped in emotion and theatrics; two themes which characterise their own stirring performances. Here’s what they had to say about their picks…
“This bundle of videos is a little bit like a late night diary entry; erratic, deeply personal, with not much precision. Two things that always seems to be a golden thread through what we enjoy sonically and visually is performativity and emotion or even the potential something holds in this way. So, with that in mind, here’s our selection….”
