Rare Synth Funk LP sampled by J Dilla & Daphni to be reissued
We Are Busy Bodies are set to reissue the highly sought after album ‘Thrust’ by McNeal and Niles.
Set to be reissued following the rise of soaring prices and extravagant demand – ‘Thrust’ by Wilbur Niles and his then-girlfriend, Machelle McNeal is soon to be available once again. The highly sought after Lo-Fi Synth Funk LP emerged in 1979 and features music which has since gone on to be prominently sampled by the likes of J Dilla and Daphni.
The record features a track called ‘Ja Ja’ which has been popularised across many years having first been written as a track about an African king recorded in the back of a car wash. The song pays homage to King Jaja, who rose from slavery to become a wildly successful broker of palm oil in the 19th century.
Tracks taken from ‘Thrust’ have since gone on to more recent acclaim from collectors and DJ’s with “Summer Fun” having soundtracked many a sunset party in recent times.
The reissue will be available on vinyl from the 31st of March and can be found on Bandcamp HERE.
