DJ Minx teams up with E-Man to release ‘Blind Amerikkka’
Detroit producer DJ Minx kickstarts the new year with the release of ‘Blind Amerikkka’, a collaboration with New York DJ, spoken word artist and producer E-Man that sends a powerful message about the current state of America.
Released on her own Women on Wax Recordings, the track is a deep, searing house groove that Minx created specifically for E-Man, who then came with the idea for the important vocal message.
A central figure in Detroit’s rich dance music history, DJ Minx launched her Women on Wax collective and label in 1996 as a platform to champion Black female artists. She cut her teeth DJing in the late 80s going on to hold a vital residency at Motor Club, on top of hosting long-running radio shows in the city for WGPR and CJAM. She’s been a fixture at Detroit’s Movement Festival since 2000 and has been a recipient of the Spirit of Detroit award for her contributions to the city’s cultural landscape.
