patten: The ‘Monday Is OK’ Mix

Known for his hi-tech AV shows and multidisciplinary projects, London-based producer patten connects the dots between different mediums, working with music, film, design, installation and live performance. 

Having had a hand in a myriad of projects including work for Caribou’s Jiaolong label & his Daphni alias, Nathan Fake and LA’s MoMA, as well as working on solo AV shows at the ICA and Tate Modern and an immersive tour with SHAPE Platform last year, as a producer patten has crafted his own distinct take on contemporary club rhythms. 

In contrast to last year’s FLEX on his own 555-5555 imprint, his most recent album GLOW takes a different form; beatless throughout, it matches washes of lamenting synths with stirring atmospheres, metallic riffs and shoegaze guitars.

Off the back of the release we got patten on board for a mix and in typical atypical fashion he turned in a lush 40 minute new mini-album of glistening ambience instead. Mailed over with just the text ‘New trax. Scuzzed out Ariel Pink frags.’, it’s entirely made from processed instrumental fragments of Ariel Pink music… go figure!
