Space Is The Place: With Contours
Tom Burford may hail from the damper, wilder corners of northern England but as Contours his musical explorations have ventured far beyond the rugged hills of Cumbria. Now based in Manchester, Burford has been steadily building a name for himself with releases on labels like Shall Not Fade, Rhythm Section and Banana Hill that fuse house, broken beat, jazz and techno that is at home both in sweaty basements and sun drenched terraces alike.
His latest project, Balafon Sketches sees Burford draw on his many years’ experience as a percussionist to create a tapestry of rich polyrhythms and reverb drenched textures that take you far away.
Working with a diverse group of collaborators the album is a breath of fresh air and has dropped on cassette and digital via his Bandcamp page.

All is well by the late, great, Ras G is an Afro-futurist odyssey deep into the cosmos. Otherworldly synth lines meander through clattering percussion and thundering sub bass, beautifully evoking the expansiveness of space and other worlds.
