Space Is The Place with LB aka LABAT
Amidst the stars and the planets there is an ethereal sense of quiet which lingers and haunts the outer reaches. Space is a mystery and as such has been the source of endless inspiration for philosophers, thinkers, creatives and those caught somewhere in between. From the bright radiant colours of the stars through to the dense and eerie darkness which hangs thick and cloaks the galaxies far beyond. This is a place beyond the realm of imagination, beyond our own understanding and ourselves.
LB aka LABAT is a producer based in Lyon, real name Baptistin Cabalou. Born in Strasbourg he emerged as one of a number of new wave house producers drawing influence from the hedonistic days of Chicago clubs, hip hop and street soul. His music is often club focussed but grounded in the funk and groove commonly associated with upbeat disco and jazz.
At the tail end of this month he will play a set of deep rooted house and techno amidst the stunning backdrop of the Alps as part of Polaris festival. A rare treat. We invited him to talk about the music with which he associates the stars and the realm beyond planet earth.

One of those cosmic piano solos from the 70’s era.
After I heard this record for the first time I said to myself I need to get a fender Rhodes!
